Personal Information

Gareth joined McCartneys in July 2001 to assist Richard Gwilliam in the running of Kington market and the property & professional office. Following Richard Gwilliam’s retirement Gareth joined the McCartneys partnership in January 2003 and now runs Kington livestock market. He also undertakes a wide range of professional work in relation to agricultural, residential and commercial property.

Educated at The Royal Agricultural College Cirencester and the College of Estate Management at Reading University, Gareth is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, member of the Institute of Agricultural Management and a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers. Taking a keen interest in all aspects of the industry Gareth holds the position of Secretary and Treasurer of the Three Counties & South Wales Livestock Auctioneers Association and is Herefordshire council member for The Royal Agricultural Society of England.

Married to Emma they have a young son, Thomas and live in the “black & white” north Herefordshire village of Pembridge.

Out of office hours Gareth enjoys assisting on the family farm in south Shropshire and shooting during the winter months.
